Full marks to Guy Gerber for leveraging fully the promotional opportunity that is inherent in releasing a Fabric CD, number 64, which landed last week. I’m sure he will be happy with my use of that filthy word “leveraging” too, seeing as every single track on the album is one of his own.
Despite that, it works as an album mix, rather than sounding like a bunch of opportunistically-chosen singles played together. The executive summary would be chilled, immersive tech-house (think Bowery Electric with a hi-hat-led backbeat) that wakes up and warms up around track eight, raises energy and smiles and leaves you warm and throbbing, perhaps under a pile of leaves. If you are familiar with his breakthrough single ‘Stoppage Time’ then it’s just a bit more chilled than that.
Best played outside if we ever get a summer this year.
